Terms of Service
Last updated: 4/30/2026 · Draft pending legal review
1. Acceptance
By using Alan (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Account
You're responsible for the security of your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Don't share your login. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of every video, image, comment, and file you upload. You grant Alan a non-exclusive license to store, transmit, transcode, and display your content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you and the people you share it with. We don't mine your content for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI models.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Alan to upload, store, or share content that:
- infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- is illegal, defamatory, or facilitates harassment or abuse;
- contains malware or attempts to compromise the Service;
- depicts minors in any sexualized context (we report this to the relevant authorities and terminate accounts immediately).
We may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion to enforce these rules.
5. Subprocessors
To provide the Service we rely on these third-party processors:
- Supabase (auth + database hosting)
- Cloudflare R2 (object storage), Stream (transcoding + delivery)
- Vercel (web hosting)
- Resend (transactional email)
Your data is stored in the regions configured by these providers (currently North America).
6. Pricing
During the current beta, the Service is free for invited users. We reserve the right to introduce paid plans with reasonable advance notice. Storage that exceeds the free tier (10 GB per workspace) may be subject to per-GB pass-through pricing.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice. On termination, your content is deleted within 30 days; you can request a data export before that window closes.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is." We make no warranties about uptime, data preservation beyond commercial best-effort, or fitness for any particular purpose. We try hard, but stuff can break.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability under these Terms is capped at the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
10. Changes
If we change these Terms materially, we'll send you an email notice with the new version at least 30 days before they take effect.
